Celeste was my first real introduction with post-hardcore infused black metal and I fell in love immediately. Their whole dicography is great, but Misanthrope(s) stands as their crowning achievement.
Favorite track: Que des yeux vides et seches.

Going old school Celeste tonight to gear up for the new album in January 2022. "Misanthrope(s)" is a pretty huge album of dissonant and destructive metal. Sounds like if Neurosis and Cult of Luna pooled songwriting resources and made a record together in the early 2000s. Brilliantly executed music.
Favorite track: Toucher ce vide beeant attise ma fascination.

One of my favorite albums. Misanthrope(s) is a monolithic mixture of black metal, post-metal/hardcore, sludge, screamo, with an oppressive, dark atmosphere that engulfs every second of it. Killer.
Favorite track: Que des yeux vides et seches.
The third record of this nihilistic misanthropic band from France! For those who don't know them yet: fans of Cult Of Luna, Breach, Neurosis or Dark Funeral should be all ears. And no ... it's not another copy - they're very unique! ;)

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74

The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel. Metallurgical Fire
Two death metal legends unite for a once-in-a-lifetime LP; rife with classic appeal and flavor, it's a manifesto that works in any era. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 11, 2017
